Today we are going to read abut a very unusual theme park in which we can have an exciting experience of the life under the sea, over the mountain, and into space. Woold you like to know more about this fantastic park? Now read the passage Futuroscope- Excitement and Learning on page38.

Step 2. Reading

Task 1: Ss read and give their own answers to the following questions.

I. Read and tick the experiences visitors can have at Futuroscope.

A. taking a journey deep into space, to the end of the solar system, and be polled into a Black Hole.

B. taking a trip to Brazil to experience surviving an airplane crash in the jungle.

C. going with famous divers to the bottom of the ocean and seeing mysterious, blind creatures that have never seen the sunlight.

Step 3. Reading task (page 73 and 74)

Just now we read about a science and technology-based theme park – Futurokscope. Now let’s come to a coltural theme park in Hawaii. In this park, visitors can see the different customs, the style of dress, and above all, the different skills of the Polynesian people.

Task 3: Ss read the passage quickly for the first time and then tell me whether these sentences are true or false.

True or false

    1. The Polynesian Coltural Centre in Hawaii not only shows visitors the Polynesian way of life, but also protects their skills and colture for the future.
    2. Villagers from many island communities come to show visitors their different customs and styles of dress.

Task 1: Suppose that one of your friends comes to visit you from another city. He wants you to show him around a park, which you know quite well. With your partner, prepare a role play using the information you prepared for your introduction. These words and expressions may help you.

Step 4. Speaking

Task 3: you are visiting theme parks as a reporter for your radio station. You telephone to your station manager, who is deciding how much longer you can travel. With a partner, write a dialogue in which you describe one of your favourite theme parks. Try to persuade the manager to agree that you can travel to another theme park. Be ready to present your dialogue to your class. One of you will be the reporter; the other will be the manager. Use some of these words and expressions to help you.
